L’Alfiere Di Lo

A STORY OF LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP

L'Alfiere Di Lo is born from the pleasure of sharing the gifts of timeless hills, where a couple takes refuge to spend the best hours of their leisure time. Passion and emotion are therefore the origin of a small production, which favours quality over quantity, is attentive to environmental characteristics and wine values, and is entrusted with a wine expert and true friend: Enrico Orlando, oenologist and teacher of Viticulture and Oenology at the Umberto I Agricultural Technical Institute in Alba. Gratitude to the territory – for its generosity, respect for traditions and in offering its fruits – is marked in this project from the outset.

THE TERRITORY

Terre Alfieri is a hilly area nestled between Langhe, Monferrato and Roero, and expresses its synthesis for morphological characteristics of the territory, as well as food and wine qualities. In this area, excellent wines, truffles, meats, and cold cuts set the table of tradition; rich in delicate aromas that accompany the harmony of taste. The skill and discipline of the local winemakers earned them the prestigious Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin in 2020 as a recognition of the levels of excellence achieved in the wine production of Nebbiolo and Arneis, which are not afraid to confront their counterparts, Piedmontese productions. Right in the heart of the Terre Alfieri, L'Alfiere Di Lo consists of a small village of Lavezzole, with just over 80 inhabitants, and soaks up uninterrupted sunshine on its lands from sunrise to sunset. image

THE GARDEN VINEYARD

Located on clay soil with good proportions of limestone and sandy veins, the hectare-long vineyard degrades from the top of the village at approx. 250 metres above sea level, cultivated on espalier and with a mixed pruning system like Guyot. The humble plot allows most vineyard work to be carried out manually everyday with great care and dedication. The grapes, harvested at the end of September with careful selection of quality and maturation, are subject to fermentation with the skins, in concrete containers, for approx. 15 days. The maturation, where the malolactic fermentation is completed, takes place in French oak barrels of 500-700 litres from the Allier region, of third and fourth passage, for a period of 24 months, and then bottled for six.
